FPSRussia Raided by ATF? Wow. This is a very interesting turn of events. Apparently Kyle Myers (FPSRussia) was raided by 40 ATF agents because they believe he was using explosives illegally.
The ATF contends that he did not have the proper licensing to use explosives for business purposes. Since he was receiving payment through his YouTube channel they believe this was a violation.
A person is required to obtain a federal explosives manufacturing license if they intend to engage in the business of manufacturing explosives for sale, distribution or for their own business, Coes said.
The ATF believed that Myers was violating this law.
“The claim is that he was using explosives and getting paid for it via YouTube,” Coes said.
I really dont know about all this… I am not a lawyer, but this really seems like the ATF is overreaching on this and trying to send a message to a very big player in the YouTube world…. and probably the rest of the high profile, pop culture gun owners who are out there.
If I am not mistaken, in the only videos that I have seen Myers uses Tannerite for his explosives… which is completely unregulated. Tannerite is intentionally unregulated for the sole purpose of allowing farmers – who are business owners – to use the product on their farms – which is their business – for the purposes of stump removal and what not. It is intentionally unregulated to free them from the burdensome regulations that fall upon the use of explosives. IMO, if Myers was only using Tannerite then this is nothing more than a witch hunt.
Exit Question: Did they really need 40 agents? Did they take SWAT too?
