RECOIL Magazine is Wrong

Apparently there is a big brew-ha-ha growing over RECOIL magazine’s claims in a recent article that unless firearms have a “specific sporting purpose” they have no place in the hands of civilians.

Like we mentioned before, the MP7A1 is unavailable to civilians and for good reason. We all know that’s technology no civvies should ever get to lay their hands on. This is a purpose-built weapon with no sporting applications to speak of. It is made to put down scumbags, and that’s it. Mike Cabrera of Heckler & Koch Law Enforcement Sales and veteran law enforcement officer with SWAT unit experience points out that this is a gun that you do not want in the wrong, slimy hands. It comes with semi-automatic and full-auto firing modes only. Its overall size places it between a handgun and submachine gun. Its assault rifle capabilities and small size make this a serious weapon that should not be taken lightly.

Wow! The balls on that guy. If that is really his beliefs on the right to keep and bear arms then he should be fired from that publication. There is nothing in the 2nd amendment that revolves around the sporting use of firearms. Its a ploy of the gun grabbers, and its a damn shame that anyone at such a publication would buy into the claim that we must justify a sporting use in order to own a firearm. As Moderno points out at the above link, they did try to walk it back a bit on their Facebook page, but it was all just more hogwash.

UPDATE: Here is their publisher

  1. what a BIG pile of poo they have stepped in, and, as Nick Leghorn over at TFB points out, ammo for the gun is very expensive and hard to find, so all the fuss is over a gun no one could really use anyway. At the very least shooting such a gun full-auto would be almost prohibitively expensive. Bitter irony.

  2. What a loon. If sporting purpose were used as the measure, then no defensive firearm would be justifiable to own. That man understands nothing of the second amendment. Its purpose is to keep us free from tyranny… not to allow us the use of firearms for sporting purposes. Im with Chris, they will never get any of my money.

  3. This guy needs to realize that the second amendment and gun ownership is not about hunting or sporting purposes. I may not know where to draw the line, but this is way off base.
